„Pretty Lights“ steht für höchst qualitative elektronische Musik – und dies ist auch auf „A Color Map of the Sun“ nicht anders. Derek Vincent Smith, so „Pretty Lights“ mit bürgerlichen Namen, hat sich aber diesmal Unterstützung aus dem Rapbereich geholt, und zwar in der Form von Talib Kweli und Eligh, die beide Parts auf dem Album beisteuern. Ganz große Musik, welche auch kommerziell erfolgreich ist: schließlich verkaufte „Pretty Lights“ bisher 13.000 (#24 in den US-Billboard-Charts diese Woche) physische Einheiten von „A Color Map of the Sun“ – obwohl das Album auch als Free Download angeboten wird. Starke Leistung.
