Darauf habe ich lange gewartet und eigentlich nicht einmal damit gerechnet, dass es einmal passiert: SpaceGhostPurrp in Wien. Der 23-jährige Rapper und Produzent aus Miami hat Tracks für Mitglieder der Taylor Gang wie Wiz Khalifa und Juicy J produziert und hatte sehr großen Einfluss auf den Style von A$AP Rocky. Der Gründer des Raider Klan hatte auch noch einen seiner jüngsten Crew-Mitglieder Yung Simmie im Rahmen einer Europa Tour mit im Gepäck.

Als Local-Support gab der mysteriöse Phatman eine grandiose Show ab. Mit den verspulten Beats und der gepitchten Stimme erinnert er an Flying Lotus’ Alter Ego Captain Murphy. Seine schwarze Sturmmaske und seine sehr gekonnten Moves waren ziemlich überzeugend und lassen darauf hoffen, dass er die Wiener HipHop Szene bald richtig aufmischt. Yung Simmie rappte über die bekannt klaren und düsteren Beats. Seine Show war überraschend gut und packte die Crowd, obwohl die meisten wahrscheinlich kaum einen Song von ihm kannten. Durch die düstere Stimmung und seinen krassen Auftritt konnte man auch ganz gut vergessen, dass er keineswegs dem entspricht, was man sich, wenn man seine Songs hört, unter ihm vorstellt. Yung Simmie hat Talent, das hat er mir jetzt auch live bewiesen.

Mit SpaceGhostPurrp betrat eine Legende des Cloudraps die Bühne. Das Licht, der Sound und er selbst waren perfekt. Jeder Track hat dazu eingeladen, weiter mit dem Kopf zu nicken und die Soundwalze über sich zu ergehen zu lassen – und sich noch einen Ofen anzustecken. Ein solides Set, bei dem zwar einige meiner Lieblingssongs gefehlt haben, aber das hab ich erst im Nachhinein gemerkt. Mit seiner Underground-Hymne „The Black God“ hat er das alles wieder gut gemacht.

Ein großartiger Gig, von allen Beteiligten! An dieser Stelle gehen große Probs an Sexy Deutsch und Sun Daze raus, dass so was in Wien möglich ist. Wie gesagt, so was hätte ich nicht für möglich gehalten.

SpaceGhostPurrp im Interview.

SpaceGhostPurrp, der nicht nur als Rapper sondern auch als Produzent in den letzten Jahren einiges geliefert hat, war vor einiger Zeit kurz davor, richtig groß zu werden. Nur irgendwie hat das nie so richtig geklappt. Vielleicht ist das auch ganz gut so, sonst hätte er uns auf seiner Europatour kaum in Wien besucht. Wir durften uns davor zwischen Tür und Angel noch kurz mit dem Black God unterhalten. Ziemlich fertig von der langen Reise, hat er uns ein paar kurze Antworten auf unsere Fragen gegeben.

TM: This is probably your first time in Vienna. We’re glad you’re here. So tell us a bit how you came up with the idea of the Rvdxr Klvn? SGP: Yeah … I don’t know, we were friends. All skaters and stuff. So we we were like a crew before. And now we’re so much more members all around the world.

What happened to the planned Rvdxr Klvn clothing line? Oh man, you know there’s a lot of stuff going on right know. And it will come out. But I really don’t know when. Hopefully next year. And we have merch and stuff.

So you see yourself more as a rapper or a producer? I love both – the producing and the raps. So I really see myself more as an artist. You know, I just doing the stuff I love. And I love producing and rapping.

You produced a lot of tracks for other Rappers out there, like the A$AP Mob and the Taylor Gang. How you got in touch with them ? Twitter and Facebook mostly. A$AP Rocky, for example, hit me up on Facebook, caus’ he loved my music. And with Wiz it was also kinda like that. I really love to work with different people who like my style of producing and rapping.

Is the beef with A$AP still a thing? Nah, not really. We’re just doing different stuff now.

 

  Speaking of collaborations, what’s up with the Odd Future collab?   Oh yeah, it will definitely drop. I don’t know when. But we did some crazy shit together. With Domo Genesis also. But we all have our own projects, you know.

  You’re a big fan of Swedish metal like Meshuggah. Do you find inspiration in this dark sounds?   Yes, a lot. I really love Meshuggah and also Metallica and stuff. They are genius. I am a big fan of metal. But most of the people think it’s weird. I am black and I am listening to metal. They don’t get it.

  I’ve heard that your mom used to rap to. Did she influenced the fact that you are a rapper now?   Oh yeah. She did some crazy stuff with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. Definitely, that was a big thing for me.

  There was a rumor that you want to quit rap. You thought about quitting the game?   Haha, I don’t know. It was just a phase. But I am still rapping.

  So what can we expect in the future? Will there be a new Rvdxr Klvn album?   I really don’t know. We’re all involved in different projects. But we’re making a lot of music together. So we’ll see.
